SMART @ SEA

Smart @ Sea is a festival held at the boulevard in Scheveningen and is about smart technologies and innovations. They host a ‘Living Lab’ on location where all kinds of new technologies are being tested. To make people aware of these tests and innovations, and to start a debate about new technologies, they asked if we could make a design for a big mural within this theme.

For this project I’ve teamed up with artist duo’s SOGO show and Studio Zepa. All the neon typography and icons are done by me, I’ve coordinated the whole design and executions as well.

The size of the mural is more than 100 meters wide. A part of the iconic ‘Pier of Scheveningen’ is also a part of the full mural.

Ringo’s passion is to paint (big) murals and create mixed media artworks on canvas and paper, both commissioned and non-commissioned.

By the variety of painting in the public space as a street artist and to work as a visual artist in his studio, he keeps both professions exciting to himself and the outside world. Being part of the graffiti and street art scene from a young age triggered his love for typography and design. The choose to apply for an art study at the Willem de Kooning academy wasn’t a surprise to anybody, and in 2010 he left this Rotterdam art institute with a bachelor graphic design.

Because of this graphic background it’s easy for Ringo to make a digital visual in advance for an assignment or project, a feature that’s a big plus for most of his clients and colleagues.

Besides creating art individually Ringo has a lot of experience as a creative workshop tutor.
